About Solstis

What is Solstis?

A smart medicine cabinet for a dorm room or apartment. It's stocked with first-aid and over-the-counter essentials. When a student tells it what's going on, a calm voice talks them through using what's inside, while the correct boxes glow to point them in the right direction.

What is a smart medicine cabinet?

A smart medicine cabinet pairs the supplies with directions for using them, the way a smart first-aid kit does. Solstis is one for a dorm room or apartment: it's stocked with first-aid and over-the-counter essentials, and when a student tells it what's going on, a calm voice talks them through using what's inside, while the correct boxes glow to point them in the right direction. Solstis isn't a replacement for campus health or emergency care. In an emergency, call 911.

Is Solstis a medicine cabinet?

Yes, a smart one. Like any medicine cabinet, it holds the everyday stuff: first-aid and over-the-counter essentials. Unlike one, it lights up when the door opens, a calm voice talks them through what's going on, and the correct boxes glow to point them in the right direction. Solstis isn't a replacement for campus health or emergency care. In an emergency, call 911.

How does the voice guidance work?

A student opens the door and says what's going on. Solstis asks a couple of quick questions and talks them through using what's inside, step by step, while the correct boxes glow to point them in the right direction. Solstis isn't a replacement for campus health or emergency care. In an emergency, call 911.

What does the glow do?

It lights up when the door opens, and the correct boxes glow to point them in the right direction. It turns off after a minute of silence or when the door closes.

Is it a replacement for a doctor or campus health?

No. Solstis is a supplement to student health. It helps bring more students to student health services, and Solstis is working with schools so students can book appointments with student health right from the app. Solstis isn't a replacement for campus health or emergency care. In an emergency, call 911.

What does Solstis do, and what doesn't it do?

Solstis guides general first aid with what's inside the cabinet: a student tells it what's going on, a calm voice talks them through using the right supplies, and the glowing compartments quickly get them to the right solution. Its guidance is general, and it isn't medical advice, a diagnosis, or treatment. It doesn't replace a doctor, a nurse, or campus health. When something is more than first aid, it points the student to campus health services, or to 911 in an emergency. Solstis isn't a replacement for campus health or emergency care. In an emergency, call 911.

What happens in an emergency?

Call 911. If a student can't make the call, Solstis can contact 911 for them and share their building's address so help can find them. When something sounds like more than a supply can handle, Solstis recommends the next step up: an appointment with student health, then a doctor, then urgent care, and for the most urgent things, the ER.

For parents

Why not just pack a first-aid kit?

A kit holds the supplies; Solstis adds the directions. The first-aid kit from move-in ends up under a bed. This one hangs on the wall, where they'll find it, stocked, lit when the door opens, and with a calm voice to talk them through it at any hour. Solstis isn't a replacement for campus health or emergency care. In an emergency, call 911.

What about 2 AM, when the health center is closed?

That's the moment Solstis is built for. Most of these nights, what they need is simple: the right supply, and clear directions for using it. With Solstis, both are already in the room. And when something sounds like more than a supply can handle, Solstis recommends the next step up: student health, then a doctor, then urgent care, and for the most urgent things, the ER. Solstis isn't a replacement for campus health or emergency care. In an emergency, call 911.

What do parents see?

The Solstis app is meant for students, and what they see is theirs. A student can choose to give a parent the same visibility they have. If they do, you see what they see; if they don't, you don't. Students are adults, and it's their call.

What's inside and refills

What's inside?

For cuts, scrapes, and burns: adhesive bandages, large gauze pads, medical tape, an elastic bandage, antibiotic ointment, tweezers, scissors, a clotting wipe, burn spray, and an instant cold pack. For bites, stings, and eyes: a sting relief wipe, anti-itch cream, and eye wash. For pain, cold, and allergy: two kinds of pain and fever relief, two kinds of allergy relief, day and night cold and flu medicine, cough drops, an antacid, and an antifungal cream. For everyday care: a thermometer, glucose gel, electrolyte powder, menstrual pads, and condoms.

How do refills work?

They pay for each item they refill, and order it through the Solstis app. Amazon fulfills the order, ships it to the student to restock the cabinet, and sends the tracking updates, so they know when it's delivered.

The Founding Family pre-order

How does the reservation work?

Reserve with a $49 refundable deposit, credited toward the $299 Founding Family price. The $250 balance, plus tax where required, is charged when your unit ships. Shipping is free. Fully refundable until it ships.

Is the deposit refundable?

Yes. Your reservation is fully refundable until it ships.

When will it ship?

Early 2027, in the order reservations were made, so earlier reservations ship first.

When is the balance charged?

When your unit ships: the $250 balance, plus tax where required. We email you before we charge the balance.

What happens after the first year?

Nothing renews or charges automatically. After the first year, the smart features need the Solstis app subscription, $299 per year if you choose to continue, paid on the Solstis website rather than in the app. If it isn't renewed, voice guidance and the glow stop working.

Why reserve now if it ships in 2027?

Reservations ship in the order they're made. $49 holds your place in line at the $299 Founding Family price, and it's fully refundable until it ships.

Will the price change?

No. Your Founding Family price stays $299.

Can I reserve more than one?

Yes, up to 3 per order. For a residence hall, a campus, or a student housing community, see For universities and student housing.
